Watson the Super Computer

What is a Watson?Watson is a “super computer” that can at most times out think a human. the computer is programed to answer a question in less than 3.5 seconds. when given a question Watson will not answer a question if it is not a certain percentage sure.

Why use jeopardy??The game of Jeopardy makes its players think about things from a range of topical knowledge. Can computer system only familiar to answering precise questions overcome these changes? Well that's why Jeopardy is a good way to test the accuracy and speed of this new super computer Watson. So far Watson is taking over the game of Jeopardy. It is Beeping the buzzard faster than you can think. yet there is still some improvement that need to be made. Although Watson is fast and has a lot of

THE CROWD CAHNTS “U.S.A”

Osama bin Laden was the founder of al-Qaeda, and believed to be responsible for sept.11th and other attacks on the U.S. He was on the list of most wanted terrorist and was the main target of the war on terror. On April 29th
Barack Obama authorized a raid on bin laden's location.

On May 1, 2011, in Washington, D.C President Barack Obama announced that Osama bin Laden had been killed. Within 24 hours he body was buried at sea.

Now that he is dead, you can hear a big sigh in the United States. It was an outbreak of national celebration in places like Washington D.C., New York and Pennsylvania all over one man's violent death. TV comedians spared no time to ridicule his death. Should we be laughing about something melancholic? Should we celebrate his death?

Stop and think about why you are celebrating. Is it because he has killed thousands of people and now the U.S. killed him? If that's the case our four founding fathers killed thousands of people and were also slave owners. Christopher Columbus murdered millions, yet he has his own holiday. So now let's rephrase the statement. It is not because he has killed thousands of people, but the fact that he killed thousands of our people. God forbid that is an unforgivable sin. That must be punished by death. We cannot even give him the respect of a proper Muslim burial. He at least deserves that. After all he is the monster the U.S. created. Once upon a time when it was convent for us he was our friend.

Two wrongs never made a right. Violence never created peace just war. No matter how much wrong he has done, the death of a person is never something to celebrate. Yes Osama bin Laden was the founder of al-Qaeda, and believed to be responsible for sept.11th and other attacks on the U.S. He was still a human being and should have been treated as such.

March of Millions

Today thousands of people gather together for the march of millions. Soldiers surrounded the peaceful protesters like they were about to go to war. With helicopters and army tanks ready to fire and strike fear into the hearts of thousands to suppress an uprising. Why are the people machining? They are marching for freedom from oppression.
It’s a peaceful protest, well so far peaceful protest to get the resignation of President Hosni Mubarak. The government is taking no risk. They are cutting internet service at 4 p.m., and all phone services will be cut also. Banks and school were closed due to this and a curfew was set for 3pm.but, protesters obviously disregarded this rule. The military said that they would open fire on the peaceful protesters.
What is the big deal about Hosni Mubarak?  Why do they want him out of office? They want to end their strict and harsh rule of this government. The anger is driven mostly by economic tension. Egypt has seen a dramatic rise in the cost of living in recent years. While the government has offered food subsidies to help people handle rising prices, many are still struggling. In Egypt’s new growing economy it is creating bigger differences between rich and poor.

That’s exactly what people should do. That’s a part of how we changed history, by protesting. But it seemed like protesting only made Hosni Mubarak’s will to stay stronger. He said he will stay in office until a September election. His announcement on state television late Thursday angered protesters who had hoped to hear the president announce his resignation. He should just do them all favor and leave office. There is nothing he can do or say now that is going to change people’s minds about him. The emergency law should have been lifted a long time ago. Changing it now is not going to make much of a difference. The best thing to is step down. Of course he will not and even say that he will not leave Egyptian soil until he is buried underneath it.

U.S. Invasion

There are three major points within Michael Walzer's poignantly written article in the March 20th issue of the New Republic. Walzer wrote concerning the U.S lead roll in establishing a no fly zone in Libya. Walzer states in his First point, "it is radically unclear what the purpose of the intervention…" He goes on to state "the attacks don't have what we should have insisted on from the very beginning…"He finally suggests, "The U.S. should have never invaded Libya." The U.S had no ligament reason to interfere with the Libyan rebellion. If the U.S decides to over throw Qaddafi we would need ground soldiers. Of course they do not have them because they are fighting in Iraq. One may infer from the article that neither France, Britain, nor the United States really wants soldiers there.

The rest of the Arab nation is staying out of this intervention. There is no help coming from Tunisia or Egypt. Even though the U.S has invested so much in to Egypt's army they have no help from them. Like Michael Walzer stated "That is a very bad sign, for the attacks will undoubtedly kill civilians, and these will be innocent men, women, and children, Arab and Muslim, killed (again) by the French, the British, and the Americans."

And the oscar goes to....

Did anyone see the academy awards? It was probably exciting waiting for a favorite nominated actor or actress to receive an award. Now one more question; of the many people nominated, how many were minorities? People may say that is because minorities have not made any movies worthy of winning an academy awards. Why is that? It is not the Academy Awards’ decision to make movies. Is it that Hollywood just does not like telling the stories of minorities? Anyone who is reading this is thinking about all the minority films they have seen.

Look at a so call back film pick up on this. At the end or throughout the movie is there some white person is saving the lower class poor minorities. Like in the movie dangerous minds. A white teach from the suburb saves the day.It is like a bad cliche that people keep saying. Like a superhero the white hope saves the day. For example  in the movie  avatar  Jake Sully a white male that works as an inside man for the army to destroy the natives land changes his ways and ends up saving the natives. African Americans are almost always depicted either poor, poorly educated, in drone need of help, or doing something illegal.

"Courage is fire, and bullying is smoke"

Every day thousands of teens wake up afraid to go to school. Bullying is a problem that affects millions of students, and it has everyone worried, not just the kids on its receiving end. Yet because parents, teachers, and other adults don't always see it, they may not understand how extreme bullying can get. What do you think of bullying in schools?

Two of the main reasons people are bullied are because of appearance and social status. Bullies pick on the people they think don't fit in, maybe because of how they look, how they act (for example, kids who are shy and withdrawn), their race or religion, or because the bullies think their target may be gay or lesbian. One of the most painful aspects of bullying is that it is relentless. Most people can take one episode of teasing or name calling or being shunned at the mall. However, when it goes on and on, bullying can put a person in a state of constant fear.

Guys and girls who are bullied may find their schoolwork and health suffering. Amber began having stomach pains and diarrhea and was diagnosed with a digestive condition called irritable bowel syndrome as a result of the stress that came from being bullied throughout ninth grade. I sometimes spent my afternoons hungry and unable to concentrate in class because he was too afraid to go to the school cafeteria at lunchtime.

Bulling is terrible and needs to be stopped, more needs to be done about it. It shouldn't be tolerated. It has led to children bringing guns and other weapons into schools. It has also led children to suicide.

Take Them or Leave Them

The dream act would open so many doors for illegal immigrants and, change the United States for good. No doubt this would make the U.S. more diverse but is this good. Should we let immigrants get a proper education? What are the pros and cons. The big question is do they stay or do they go.
Personally I support the act. Immigrants are going to come to United States if we want them to or not. So why not give them a good education and a job. If you think about it we can really benefit from them. I don’t feel as though it is fair if a person is born elsewhere and then right after comes to the United States. Raised here but can’t get a fair education here. What since does that make. To make life a lot easier for all of us just let the people go to school.

So let’s analyze the situation. The pros are act would give immigrants access to a greater educational opportunities and better jobs which means you can tax them. A 2010 study by the UCLA North American Integration and Development Center estimates that the total earnings of the Act immigrants over the course of their working lives would be between $1.4 trillion and $3.6 trillion. Also the dream act would save tax payers money. How you may ask a study shows that raising the college graduation rate of Hispanics to that of non-Hispanic whites would increase spending on public education by 10 percent nationwide resulting in incomes. The act would benefit the universities for the better. Lastly it would encourage them to contribute to the economy.
In contrast the cons are it was politically motivated by Senator Reid in order to gain Latin American votes in Nevada. Reid is currently tied with Republican challenger Sharron Angle. A second reason was insufficient debate on the bill before the vote. Some members of the GOP are concerned that passage would insight more illegal immigration. Others feel it is a step toward granting amnesty to all illegal immigrants.
So to summarizes you can infer that i think illeale immigrants should be entitled to a fair education. Like everything the act has its pros and cons but in the end I think that it is worth it.they are not hurting anybody and it would be a benefit for us if we passed the act.and because they didn’t more people will be denied a education and deported.so I will leave you this one question .Was it worth it?

All tea Over Borad

The name "Tea Party" is a indication to the Boston Tea Party, a protest that objected to a British tax on tea in 1773. The tea party does not have a leader or a plan it endorses reduced government spending lower taxes. The group is made of local groups that make their own platform and plans. People say bush and Obama is the reason for the party. Because the Tea Party's national figures Dick Armey and Sarah Palin, nearly all Tea Party candidates have run as Republicans, and almost 80% of Tea Partiers consider themselves to be Republican. Yet the "movement" is not a new political group, but simply a marketing tool for traditional Republican candidates and policies.

The tea party has a big influence on our government and how it works. They can’t elect people per say but they have pretty good pull in that area. Sara Palin’s one of the main supports. It launched its tour, as it has in the past, with her appearance. Why is this problem? She helps put who they want in office so they can keep control, they care about the rich whites rather that making the world a better place.

Take a close look at whose taxes they want to lower. If you fall under the category of rich love them. They could care less about the lower class. Along as they make their money they will fight to keep it. Even at the expense In just the last year, the Tea Party movement has become a driving force in American politics. From debates over healthcare and federal stimulus spending to voter mobilization for the midterm elections, Tea Party groups have not been shy about showing their anger at the state of government. Still, as a movement with a growing number of community organizers speaking with many voices, much of the country is left wondering: What is the Tea Party movement really all about?

Student Strike.....Not Such a Peaceful Protest

Police held off angry student protesters marching to London's Parliament Square on Thursday as lawmakers debated a controversial plan to triple university tuition fees in England. Thousands of students held demonstrations and sit-ins throughout the country, heaping pressure on the government to stop. Students marched through central London, banging drums, waving placards and chanting "education is not for sale," as weeks of nationwide protests reached a buildup. Small groups of protesters tore down barricades and threw paint bombs as police with batons fended off others in attempts to reinforce a security cordon near Parliament. Despite minor scuffles, the massive march remained largely peaceful. The vote put Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg and other Liberal Democrat leaders in an awkward spot. Liberal Democrats signed a pre-election pledge to oppose any such tuition hike, and have reserved the right to abstain in the vote even though they are part of the governing coalition proposing the change.I'm on the side of the students. Education is not for sale. If the parliament raises the prices more students will not be able to get the education that they need.

hello 911......help...hello???......im sorry we are backed up today please try your call agin later

Camden City Council, as expected, voted Thursday to lay off almost 400 workers, half of them police officers and firefighters, to bridge a $26.5 million deficit. That’s about a quarter of the city’s entire work force. Five members of City Council voted unanimously to approve the layoff plan — two other members were absent. The cuts take effect in mid-January exactly how many city workers will be affected is still an open question, although nearly half the city’s police and a third of the firefighters are slated to go. Karl Walco is with the union that represents non-uniformed Camden city workers. “If we agreed to everything that the city proposed in concessions, it would only have a minor impact on the number of layoffs,” Walco told the council members. No argument from Council. They sat impassively as workers and residents alike voiced their frustration. When it was over, Council president Frank Moran suggested they’re not to blame. “We didn’t put a price tag on public safety. Unfortunately, the governor of the State of New Jersey put that price tag on it,” he said at the packed Council meeting. That price tag is $69 million, in transitional aid. Moran suggested that Camden residents should vent to Governor Chris Christie. After the vote, council members and Camden Mayor Dana Redd avoided reporters by going into their offices.

Live above the Influence

Marijuana is the most commonly used drug in the United States. New movements are being put in action form left to right. Now this whole live above the influence thing is out and it’s a good thing it is. We do not need teenagers having short term memory loss like if they were eighty. Besides what people may think most teenagers do not use marijuana. If they do smoke in my onion they do it because their friends or brothers and sisters use marijuana and pressure them to try it. Or others may think it's cool to use marijuana because they hear songs about it and see it on TV and in movies. Some teens may feel they need marijuana and other drugs to help them escape from problems at home, at school, or with friends. Whatever the reason may be its never ok to smoke. When a person is high their perception distorted. They do not have a grasp of reality and that is not a good thing. We do not need any more incoherent people walking the streets causing harm because they are not in their right state of mind. If you do not have a firm grasp on reality there is no telling what you can do or what can happen. When people smoke they lose valuable brain cells that can’t be recovered.

For teens these brain cells are very vital to get through school the drug can make you mess up in school, in sports or clubs, or with your friends. If you're high on marijuana, you are more likely to make stupid mistakes that could embarrass or even hurt you. If you use marijuana a lot, you could start to lose interest in how you look and how you're getting along at school or work. Athletes could find their performance is off; timing, movements, and coordination are all affected by THC. Also, since marijuana can affect judgment and decision making, its use can lead to risky sexual behavior, resulting in exposure to sexually transmitted diseases like HIV, the virus that causes AIDS.

OMG....do you know whats in that

Cigarette warnings have been changed on packages for the first time in over twenty-five years. The depiction of deceased lungs, corpses, and other graphic images are disturbing to many, however, the Food and Drug Administration is backing up this move.
The decision to make cigarettes more unattractive to consumers has been pushed forward by proponents to stop people from smoking by using images that are disturbing to the consumer. The warning labels will cover half of the package’s front and rear, plus the top twenty percent of all cigarette ads. The statements on the package will not have the usual warning by the Surgeon General, but a much more severe admonishment by regulators.
They are hoping to stop young people from ever picking up their first pack, and by using the graphic images, they say this, “We want to make sure every person who picks up a pack of cigarettes knows exactly what the risk is they are taking,” Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sibelius said at a news conference.

Personally I do not think the new package labels will stop people from smoking, but it can help. No matter what you tell them people they still have an addition. No one label will stop their want for nicotine. What is can do is make it less appealing and hope people turn it down or never pick it up.

Lock Down Clink Clink

The justice system in America is the harshest just system of the developed countries. Around 2.3million people in America are in prison. That is almost in every one hundred Americans are in prison. And one in every 331 adults is under supervision. This justice system in America is hard on criminals but there are two flaws. The drug problem and the response to it,the justice system puts too many people behind bars for way to long.

More prisoners are locked away for drug violations than all violent crimes combined. It used to be perfectly legal for anyone to walk into a store and buy heroin or cocaine. Then the progressives took over in the early 20th century and began waging a war on drugs, which blossomed under Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal, when marijuana became nationally illegal. This method is also redundant and ineffective in reducing drug abuse. And it leads to more crime, gang warfare, judicial and police corruption, and all the other problems that accompanied alcohol prohibition. People who have committed no crime against person or property should be released from the jails and prisons. These people include drug offenders, sex workers, those in possession of illegal guns, and anyone else who has hurt and threatened no one, whose only offense was to violate a victimless crime statute.

Nation-wide attention was focused on so-called three-strikes laws in 1994 when California voters approved an initiative mandating prison terms of 25-years-to-life for defendants convicted of a third felony On one hand many of the defendants sent to jail under three-strikes laws are non-violent repeat offenders. The original intent of the law was the stop violent criminals, but the result has been that criminals with a history of minor offenses, such as petty theft or drug dealing, are being sent away for longer terms than criminals who commit violent acts. The prison population has grown so much that most are already filled beyond capacity and many more prisons need to be built; tax payers will have to foot the bill. Three-strike laws are not effective crime prevention measures, they are unnecessarily harsh sentencing guidelines that punish harmless petty criminals and overcrowd our prisons. On the other hand if a criminal does not reform after two felony convictions, it is unlikely that he or she ever will. Three-strike laws are effective because they target these repeat offenders who have proven unable to change their criminal behavior. The mandated 25 years-to-life sentences for third time offenders keep repeat criminals off the street, and the threat of such a long sentence may stop a two-time offenders from committing a third felony. Tough-on-crime laws like this have contributed to the nation-wide drop in crime rates over the past decade. Three-strike laws can help reduce the prison population by serving as a deterrent to potential repeat criminals.
• California has convicted 4,468 offenders on third strikes since 1994.

• There are 2 million people behind bars in the U.S., including local jails--twice as many as a decade ago.

• Approximately 2,700 "third strikers" received at least a 25 years-to-life sentence for nonviolent and non-serious offenses.

• In California, nearly 75 percent of 2nd strikes and 50 percent of 3rd strikes are for nonviolent and non-serious offenses.

• The most common charges leveled against third-strike criminals are drugs, theft and burglary.

" I have five stones and i aint throw one yet"

Over the years bishop Eddie long has but his church up. He transformed his small church into one of the biggest churches in the country. Now his church new birth missionary Baptist church has a community of multimillion dollar network of charities, and businesses, a private school and the Samson's health center

His message of prosperity brings in celebrities, professional athletes and socialites. His ministry raked in about 25,000 members giving it the title “Club New Birth” .the reason the church is called that is because it attracts so many young black singles. This has also made Bishop Long a powerful political player, especially in De Kalb County, home to one of the wealthiest black communities in the country. The church has become a mandatory stop for many politicians.
But Bishop Long’s reputation and sprawling enterprises now stand threatened by a sex scandal.
Four former members of a youth group he runs have accused him of repeatedly encouraging them into homosexual sex acts, and of abusing his considerable moral authority over them while plying them with cash, new cars, lodging and lavish trips.

Bishop Long has denied the accusations in a letter sent to a local radio station and has promised to address them from the pulpit on Sunday. He declined, through his lawyer, to comment for this article.
The boys say that they went through a bonding ritual, known as a “covenant ceremony,” in which Bishop Long gave them jewelry and exchanged vows with them while quoting from Scripture as ceremonial candles burned, according to court complaints filed against the pastor. Reciting Bible verses, the pastor promised to protect them from harm and called them “spiritual sons.”

Four former members of the group now say the real purpose of the academy was to provide Bishop Long with young men whom he could lure into sex. The men say they were past the legal age of consent when Bishop Long initiated the relationships. Still, the charges have shaken Atlanta’s church-going society, spurring painful conversations from kitchen tables to talk radio.
